Goodrington Seafest

Weird Sticks rounded off a busy summer of fishy fun at Goodrington Seafest in Paignton in September 2023.

We were invited to deliver a series of free community workshops to create weird and wonderful sea-themed parade crafts for the Goodrington Seafest closing parade.

A fun, intergenerational ‘Pimp My Swim Hat’ workshop took place at Cantina and local families made all manner of fishy creations and costumes at Paignton Library.

Weird Sticks also spent a day at Roselands Primary School creating more than 45 bright and colourful jellyfish with the Year 6 pupils.

We also worked with Play Torbay during their Summer Play Sessions 2023 to create wonderful sea-inspired puppets including a giant fish and even bigger sea-serpent for the Sea Creature parade.  Find out more here.

In addition to the barrier-free community workshops, Weird Sticks was thrilled to be part of the day at Goodrington Seafest offering a free drop-in workshop to all those who attended.  During the very popular workshop we created more than 600 sea creatures including fish, star fish and even decorated boats.  All of our wonderful workshop participants had the opportunity to join us in the Sea Creature parade to mark the end of this fabulous event celebrating the sea.

The amazing event was organised by Tonic Creatives and funded by Torbay Council with support from Splashdown Quaywest and was part of the England’s Seafood FEAST.
