Exmouth Festival – Space Themed Samba Parade

Weird Sticks were delighted to be invited back to Exmouth Festival 2024.

Following the success of last years Exmouth Festival opening night samba parade, Weird Sticks partnered up with Tonic Creatives CIC once again to deliver a series of free community workshops to create space and alien themed parade crafts for the Exmouth Festival 2024 opening night samba parade run by Exmouth Town Council.

Two giant alien puppets were created with young people at The Hive Youth Centre. The puppets were designed to be light, dynamic and easily manoeuvrable. The puppets were brought to life with arms that move separately.

Two fun-filled days were had at Exmouth Library where all manner of space-themed creations were made at our family craft workshops including alien head-dresses, asteroids, shooting stars and space rockets.

The community workshops finished with a wonderful workshop at the National Trust A La Ronde to create headdresses adorned with shells.

All those who took part in the workshops were invited to join Weird Sticks and Tonic Creatives to take part in the sea creature samba parade.
